WHAT EXACTLY ARE FIREWALLS?
There is a big brick wall standing between the outside world and your family. It prevents many of the happening in the world from filtering into your home and potentially damaging or corrupting one of your family members. You allow it to screen what comes in and out of your house, so you know it is safe. That is exactly what a firewall does for your computer.
A Firewall prevents some of the packets of information that float around the Internet from entering your computer. They may carry viruses, spyware, adware, or other corruptive pieces of information, and this can cause serious problems. Viruses can bring down your entire system, and the spyware and adware can slow it down. Also, a Firewall protects the information inside your computer by working with a router to not allow anyone to see the computers you have inside your business, or your home. Outsiders only see the Firewall-protected router and nothing else.
If your company has been the victim of information theft, identity theft, or if you have been brought down by an e-mail virus, it is time to take some action to protect yourself and the other computers in your company. Setting up a Firewall is the best way to keep anyone from getting into your computer systems
