INTRUSION DETECTION SOFTWARE BASICS
Hackers are at work around the clock. They want to get in and out of systems quickly and efficiently, and steal as much information as they can. Without a good security system set up for your company computers, the hackers will be able to work without fear of getting caught. That’s not so good for your business.
Intrusion Detection Software is a net cast over your entire computer system that tracks all incoming and outgoing information over your in-house network and communication with the outside world. It identifies patterns or other suspicious activity within your network to determine whether someone is attempting to break in or compromise your system.
It works two ways – one is by a database of similar documented signatures of people who have attacked systems before, or through the guidelines set out by the system administrator.
Once your Intrusion Detection Software is installed, you will be able to seek out and eliminate any security concerns that are plaguing your system. You can detect patterns inside your own building, or those that originate from the outside. Without it, you could be at risk for someone hacking your system and funnelling information from your computers.
