Whether it’s in a large hospital or a small town doctor’s office, medical software is designed to run the day-to-day operations of medical facilities. This type of software may have many features, but it might include: billing, managing electronic medical records and other aspects to organizing a medical practice.
Here’s how it might work. A patient calls in for an appointment. The office staff pulls up the scheduling screen for that week. There are two appointments left for the day the patient wants: one at 1:15pm and another at 3:30pm. The patient can come in for the later appointment, so her name is entered into the software for that time. When the patient arrives, she gives her name and the staff members pull up her file. They see she’s a long-time patient, so she’s had several visits with the doctor.
During the appointment, the doctor can use the software to find past symptoms and solutions specific to this patient. The doctor can also add new notes and records. The software might even allow him or her to print up prescriptions or sheets with suggestions for preventative measures--such as exercise programs or nutrition regiments.
All these areas of medical practices were once handled with paper work. Although some aspects can and need to be printed on paper, much of it can take place within an office’s computer system through software.
Medical software is both a money and time saver for a healthcare facility of any size.
